MAKHANI MURGH (BUTTER CHICKEN) RECIPE

Ingredients:

  • 4 boneless chicken breasts, cut into pieces
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1-inch piece of ginger, grated
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 can (400g) of chopped tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon fresh cream
  • Chopped fresh cilantro for garnish

Preparation:

  1. In a deep pan, heat the butter and add the chopped onions. Sauté until the onions turn golden brown.
  2. Add the minced garlic and grated ginger and cook for another minute.
  3. Add the chicken pieces and cook until they are lightly browned on all sides.
  4. In a small bowl, combine the tomato paste, chopped tomatoes, garam masala, turmeric powder, red chili powder, ground coriander, and salt. Add this mixture to the pan and stir well.
  5. Cover the pan and let the chicken cook in the tomato mixture for about 15-20 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through.
  6. Once the chicken is cooked, add the heavy cream and fresh cream. Simmer for another 5 minutes to let the flavors meld together.
  7. Garnish with chopped fresh cilantro and serve hot with rice or naan.
